If you would like your family member added to this prayer list, send us an email.
We would consider it an honor to include them.
Please pray for our President, government officials, and all military personal.
As you pray, be reminded of the words of St. Augustine. He was a Christian who lived from 354 - 430 AD and his principles for a justifiable war are still used today.
After considering these principles, I think you would agree that the United States of America is involved in a justified war.
1. Public Authority: War must be declared by a legitimate government.
2. Just Cause: War must not be waged except to protect innocent life, to ensure that people can live decently, and to ensure their natural rights.
3. Right Intention: The goal in taking up arms is to achieve peace.
4. Comparative Justice: War should not be waged unless evils that are fought are grave enough to justify killing. (Notice the word "killing" is not "murder." Murder is deliberate, premeditated taking of innocent life.)
5. Proportionality: There must be reason to expect that going to war will end more evil than it causes.
6. Probability of Success: There must be a reasonable likelihood that war will achieve its aims.
7. Last Resort: War should be waged only when peaceful alternatives have been exhausted.
